Owners spot a wrong hotend figure first

A catalogue of 49 printers built by reading 9 manufacturers’ specification pages will contain mistakes, and the people most likely to spot one are the people who own the machine. A hotend temperature off by ten degrees, a build volume quoted with the Z clearance included, a flow figure a maker has since published — all of it is worth sending.

What arrives, in rough order of usefulness

  • A figure that disagrees with the brand store. The most useful version names the printer, the field, and where the correct figure is published. That third part is what lets it be fixed the same day instead of queued behind a re-check.
  • A printer that should be listed. The catalogue covers desktop machines sold complete in the United States; industrial, pellet, metal and self-sourced kit designs are out of scope on purpose. If a current desktop machine is missing, it is an omission rather than a decision.
  • A price that no longer matches the brand store. Prices are hand-checked snapshots from 2026-09-24 and this category discounts steeply, so they drift between passes. A permanent drop is worth flagging; a weekend sale is not.
  • A machine that has been discontinued. Printers that vanish from a brand’s own store get removed rather than left sitting in the lists looking current, and a manufacturer’s store page usually says so before anyone writes about it.
  • Something you know from owning one. Owner reporting is kept in its own labelled section, separate from the specifications, and it is the part that improves fastest when owners write in.

What a checked correction moves

It lands with the two of us who keep the catalogue; there is no support desk and no ticket number. A correction is checked against the manufacturer’s own published page before anything is edited, because a confident email is not a source. When it ships, the catalogue date at the foot of every page moves with it. A reply comes when a person gets to it.
